Ask what changed rather than only which phase it is

Abyssal Escape Killer evolution follows the match clock. The opening kit develops through later phases, but the practical result differs between characters. A passive resource or speed improvement changes how often an option is useful; a transformation changes which options you have at all.

That distinction matters on both sides. A Killer should use the actual new advantage, while a Survivor should stop preparing only for the opening kit.

Compare the different late-round changes

Fleetway gains a later speed increase. Furnace's later Heat behavior supports resource generation while moving. NMI's hedgehog transformation removes television travel and introduces Tormenting Dash, Spring Trickery and Yokai Sight. 2017X changes from a rushdown kit into Beast Form with different attacks.

These examples explain why a single universal late-game tactic is too crude. A television route and a charged pounce ask you to recognize different threats.

Practice the new kit before relying on it

When a transformation arrives, identify the move that now solves your immediate problem: reaching a target, revealing a nearby Survivor or applying pressure at a different distance. Do not keep attempting a travel option that the new form has removed.
